Rufus Ivan Jones went to be with the Lord September 9, 2017. He was born June 11, 1931 in Gainesville, GA. He was the son of Moena (Darracott) and Rufus Jones.
As a young man, Ivan served his country in the United States Air Force. Lovingly known as "Smiley" during his long career as a truck driver, he was a long haul driver for Roadway Express. His family moved to Memphis in 1968.

At the age of 46, Ivan trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He would tell you what a difference Jesus made in his life. Ivan's faith never wavered in the months he battled cancer. He made his faith in Christ known to all.

He faithfully served as a driver for the bus ministries of both Broadway Baptist Church and Kirby Woods Baptist Church for many years.
Ivan is survived by his loving family: his wife of 57 years, Janice Elrod Jones, daughter Ivalene Jones Parham (Paul), Bradley Jones (Nicole) and Jeffrey Jones (Katherine), as well as five grandchildren: Jennifer Parham, Matthew Jones, Mia Jones, Christian Jones and Chloe Jones.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 15th, at 10:00 A.M. at Kirby Woods Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow, with military honors, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Pkwy., Bartlett TN.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to all of the wonderful staff of Baptist Reynolds Hospice House for the excellent and compassionate care they provided for Ivan and his family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kirby Woods Baptist Church or Calvary Mission.
