Donald Barron Carlson, 85, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 after a long illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Betty; his six children, Cindy (David) Hubbard of Lakeland, TN; Vickie (Joe) Farley of Greenwood, IN; Robin (Scott) Bowman of Noblesville, IN; Cathy (Cameron) Donahoe of Arlington, TN;, David (Tammy) Carlson of Lakeland, TN;, and Donna Ellenburg of Arlington, TN. He is also survived by his sister, Louise (George) Burns of Phoenix, Arizona; and his sister-in-law Doris "Babe" Carlson. He had 26 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and 22 nieces...

Donald Barron Carlson, 85, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 after a long illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Betty; his six children, Cindy (David) Hubbard of Lakeland, TN; Vickie (Joe) Farley of Greenwood, IN; Robin (Scott) Bowman of Noblesville, IN; Cathy (Cameron) Donahoe of Arlington, TN;, David (Tammy) Carlson of Lakeland, TN;, and Donna Ellenburg of Arlington, TN. He is also survived by his sister, Louise (George) Burns of Phoenix, Arizona; and his sister-in-law Doris "Babe" Carlson. He had 26 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and 22 nieces and nephews. Donald Carlson was born in Memphis, TN on December 29, 1929 to Ora and Fred Carlson. He attended Humes High School and later honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corp, he worked at Layne and Bowler as a machinist for several years, he owned a service station and a tire dealership for many years. He enjoyed fishing, golf and spending time with his family. He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Betty served as full-time missionaries and temple workers for the church. He also volunteered for a number of years at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN on Monday, March 2 from 6 pm - 8 pm. An additional visitation will be held from 9:00 am - 9:45 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 12096 Arlington Trail, Arlington, TN, with funeral services to follow at 10:00 am. Near and dear to his heart was his special needs great granddaughter, Emma.
