Betty Prince Sheffield, 79, passed into eternal life on November 22nd at her home in Oakland, Tennessee. Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd on Saturday, November 26 from 9a.m. until service time at 10am. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens. Betty was born in Ridgely, TN to Jesse and Osie Mae Jones Prince on June 19, 1937. She attended Cloverdale High School where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class in 1955. Betty Prince Sheffield, 79, passed into eternal life on November 22nd at her home in Oakland, Tennessee. Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd on Saturday, November 26 from 9a.m. until service time at 10am. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens. Betty was born in Ridgely, TN to Jesse and Osie Mae Jones Prince on June 19, 1937. She attended Cloverdale High School where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class in 1955. Betty married Leon O. Sheffield, Jr. in the fall of 1958 and was widowed after 36 years of marriage. In addition to raising four children, Betty worked for many years as an award-winning salesperson. She loved selling anything and everything from printing services to medical uniforms and even bridal dresses. Betty especially enjoyed selling shoes. She worked in and managed a variety of retail stores throughout her career. As the wife of an Army Colonel, she lived in many places throughout the United States and Germany. Betty enjoyed sewing also. She loved to serve others by hemming dresses and altering pants over the years. She made uniforms for baseball teams and made window treatments for family and friends. Betty completed many other sewing projects throughout the years. She loved to spend time with her family, reading and watching sports such as football and figure skating. Betty is survived by her sisters, Mary Lou Stover of Dyersburg, TN & Pat McBride of Ridgely, TN and brother Truman Prince of Obion, TN ; three sons and a daughter; son Colonel (MPD) Darrell Sheffield, Sr. of Millington, TN; daughter Tara Honore of Bartlett, TN; and son Carl Sheffield of Chattanooga, TN; three grandchildren Amanda Ferrell, Aaron Honore and Darrell Sheffield, Jr. and two great grandchildren Israel Grace Gilliland and AJ Gilliland.
